CEF is PhilFutures Co-convenor

The Center for Engaged Foresight as a co-convenor together with the Philippine Society of Public Administrators (PSPA), the Development Academy of the Philippines Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM), and the University of the Philippines – National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) recently launched the Philippine Futures Thinking Society (PhilFutures). Dr. Lizan Perante-Calina of DAP and CEF Director and Chief Futurist Shermon O Cruz was elected Vice President.

PhilFutures is a society of professional futurists that aims to promote Futures thinking and make Filipinos’ futures literate and futures ready. The launch was conducted online on June 19, 2020, in celebration of the 159th birthday of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Around 240 participants from all over the Philippines attended the event. Senior Fellows and Global Advisors took part in the fireside chat that explored futures movement and practices worldwide with keynote addresses by Senator Pia Cayetano, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on the Sustainable Development Goals, Futures, and Innovation, and renowned futurist Prof. Sohail Inayatullah.

PhilFutures will be working to capacitate and empower leaders in the government, business, and civil society and will endeavor to make Futures thinking familiar to ordinary Filipinos through seminars, workshops, training, publications, and social media.
