Associate Professor Jawn Lim is a design futurist and an innovation consultant for companies in property development, healthcare, F&B, hospitality, aviation, technology, and financial services. He consults in the areas of design thinking, business innovation, service design and strategic foresight. He also serves as a judge for awards in branding, design, and technology. He has facilitated strategic foresight workshops for universities, financial institutions, and property developers. He is a certified Foresight Practitioner by The Institute For Future and is the founder of the Speculative Futures, Singapore Chapter. 

 

As an Associate Professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology, he taught Organisation & Management, Interior Design, Hotel Design, Human Computer Interaction and Digital Experience Design. He is the programme director for the Post-graduate Programme in Design Strategy & Innovation. Previously, he taught at the Nanyang Technological University, Rhode Island School of Design and Harvard University. 

 

Prior to his academic career, he worked at the award-winning architectural firms of Arquitectonica, Frank Gehry, Marmol Radziner and Hetzel Design. He has worked on built projects such as the Columbia Memorial Space Science Learning Center, Downey, California; the Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas, Nevada; the Opus Condominium, Hong Kong; and the Disney Childcare Center, Glendale, California. 

 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Architecture) from the National University of Singapore, a Master of Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, an Advance Certificate in Management, Innovation & Technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Doctor of Design from Harvard University. 

 

He was the recipient of the DesignSingapore Council Creative Industries Scholarship, the Southern California Institute of Architecture Graduate Scholarship, the Harvard Graduate School of Design-Doctor of Design Grant, the Society for the History of Technology Dibner Fund Grant, the National Science Foundation of America Travel Grant, and the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies Conference Grant. 

 

Concurrently, he serves as a board advisor to Singapore Polytechnic’s Media, Art and Design School and Precursor Assurance, as well as the Chief Design Officer at the Singapore Productivity Centre.
