Nicole is a recipient of the 2021 Next Generation Foresight Practitioners Award from the School of International Futures, and is Secretary to the Chair and Board Liaison of the Association of Professional Futurists. She is the Chairperson of the International Trade Union Confederation – Asia Pacific Youth Committee, and she sits as a board member of the Philippine Futures Thinking Society. Her experience in futures and foresight began with a Futures Thinking Course from the Development Academy of the Philippines, where her scenario paper on the future of Philippine Exports received an award. She likewise has a Certificate in Moonshot Thinking from the Futur/io Institute, and certification from the Institute For The Future (IFTF) for the Foresight Essentials Course. She is currently a Futures Learning Advisor for the Center for Engaged Foresight and has facilitated workshops for its University Futures program, among other projects. She also sits on the Board of the Practice of Administrative Leadership and Service – Alumni Association (PALS-AA), and is a member of the United Nations Youth Advisory Board in the Philippines, representing Young Workers in the Formal Sector.

 

Nicole was formerly an employee of the Commission on Human Rights prior to joining the labour movement, where she was introduced to various activities as a Policy and Advocacy Officer of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, and as legislative staff of the labor representative to Philippine Congress. She was recently elected as Chairperson of the International Trade Union Confederation – Asia Pacific Youth Committee. At the moment she is taking her graduate studies majoring in Public Policy at the University of the Philippines. She is particularly interested in decolonizing foresight and the future of work, and how workers can make a just transition towards Industry 4.0.
