PROF. SHERMON O. CRUZ, APF CBCI AMBCI MPA

PROF. SHERMON CRUZ is one of the world’s leading futurists and the first Non-American and Asian Chair of the Washington-based Association of Professional Futurists (APF), the largest professional association of credentialed professional futurists in the world with a membership of 600 professional foresight practitioners and experts in over 60 countries.
A Global Advisor to the UNESCO and Dubai Future Foundation Global Futures Literacy Initiative, Prof. Cruz is also a UNESCO Chair Candidate on Anticipatory Governance and Regenerative Cities. Prof. Cruz is a co-founder, vice president, and chief futurist of the Philippine Futures Thinking Society (PhilFutures), the only professional membership association of futurists and foresight practitioners in the Philippines.
He is the Founder, Executive Director, and Chief Futurist of the Center for Engaged Foresight, a strategic foresight and futures innovation firm with global operations based in Manila.
He is the current Chair/CEO of The Millennium Project Philippines Node, a global foresight research think-tank linked to the Washington-based The Millennium Project, a strategic foresight research think tank that publishes The Global State of the Future Index since 1997.
Prof. Cruz is the Regional Editor of the Journal of Futures Studies, a global futures thinking journal published by the Graduate Institute of Futures Studies at Tamkang University, Taiwan.
He formerly Chaired the Asia Pacific Futures Network, a network of top futurists and government foresight institutions in the Asia and the Pacific that includes futures and foresight organizations and experts membership from the strategic foresight units of the governments of Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, the Asian Development Bank, UNESCO, UNDP among others.

As a futures researcher and academic, he is the supervising fellow and research fellow at the Development Academy of the Philippines Graduate School of Public and Development Management Certificate Course on Futures Thinking and Policy Foresight Expert at the Development Academy of the Philippines, NUCESO and Aboitiz CLICK Program on Policy Foresight.
As a part time lecturer, he crafted and designed the first futures thinking, public policy and anticipatory governance course for the undergraduate and graduate programs of the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance and Northwestern University, Laoag. Prof. Cruz is also an instructor and advisor to the National University of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy Executive Education Pioneering Course on The Future of Leadership Development Programme.
Prof. Cruz is also a lecturer on strategic foresight and public safety for the Philippine Public Safety College. He is also an upcoming lecturer on futures thinking and public health at the St. Luke’s College of Medicine Pioneering Planetary Health Global Program.
